CPCS is short for Construction Plant Competence Scheme. It’s a card system that serves as evidence of the plant operators’ ability levels. It is built on two key components for running the plant, namely professional competence and awareness of health and safety. Operating as a plant operator on National Contractors Federation and Major Contractors Group is a form of requirement or standard, and this is presumably why more than 150,000 people have CPCS cards.

Types of CPCS Cards
The Trained Operator (Red) Card

This card demonstrates to employers that you have passed the CITB HS&E test, the CPCS Theory and Practical tests, and are proficient with the equipment of your choice.

The Competent Operator (Blue) Card

If you previously held a Red card and earned a relevant NVQ or SVQ in Plant Operations, you will require a Blue (Competent Operator) Card.

What is CPCS Card?
